Joining the Rolling Matildas

We have somewhat recovered from the epic weekend that was rounds 1 and 2 of the Statewide Stampede in Kyneton playing with our amazing team mates from Team Regional Victoria – The Rolling Matildas.

Our girls kill it on the Roller Derby track!

What an amazing Roller Derby experience this weekend at was!

Zombettie and Zoom were joined on track by Mulisha in her debut bout on the Sunday, playing against North East Roller Derby in what we reckon was the nail biting, heart stopping game of the weekend! (We might be a little biased). After a hard game in the heat the previous day, the Matildas came out swinging on the Sunday and were neck and neck with NERD until the final 30 seconds! We feel like this was our best game ever and hardly felt like a loss at all. T

Teamwork makes the dream work

Teamwork makes the dream work, and the dream was in full action!
By the end of the game Zombettie had earned herself quite the reputation as a formidable blocker/jammer combo, Zoom took out the games MVP Blocker award and Mulisha took out the Team MVP award, which is not only given out to those that play well, but bring more than that to the team! They bring an awesome attitude and support to their fellow team mates as well as having a great positive affect on the game in general!

We are very proud of all of our skaters – but we are also super proud of all of the supporters that came from the club to come support them all weekend! We appreciate the posters, the cheering, the filling of water bottles and the cold towels that were oh so needed in this weekends heat. You guys are made of gold!

Thanks to our volunteers

Many of of club members also stepped up and volunteered to help NSO the event, and we are really proud to be in a position to have these amazing people by our sides and showing the derby community we are here to have fun and support each other in this awesome thing we call roller derby.

Hooray to the BRDL

Last but VERY much not least, we want to send out a HUGE thank you to Ballarat Roller Derby League and those from the Statewide Stampede committee that put on such an amazing event. It was epic, and the best way to possibly have kicked of the 2017 season. It was an amazing venue, and it felt like almost anything we could have needed was taken care of. We know that this sort of event takes a lot of blood, sweat and tears to pull off, and we want you to know how much we all appreciated what you have done for us all.

Can’t wait for round 3!!
